Connie S Stephens was born August 1, 1950 to Ruby (Ezell) Omohundro and Charles W Omohundro, Jr. in Nashville, TN, and raised by her grandmother, Fruzie (Hamblen) Omohundro, Connie went to join these who preceded her in death on April 19, 2013.
Connie married James Stephens on July 22, 1977 and together they raised Connie's children from her previous marriage, Beverly Waller Chivington and Jason Waller. Jim and Connie had 36 beautiful, loving years together and enjoyed entertaining, traveling and spending quiet time with one another. Connie worked for a number of years in the insurance industry and most recently for Hallmark Cards but the job she loved most was being wife, mother and grandmother. She faced her long illness with her usual wit and humor.
Connie is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Beverly (Charles) Chivington, and son, Jason (Amy) Waller and grandchildren Brendan Chivington, Avery Waller and Garrett Waller along with a very special "granddaughter", Malisa Moore, who were all the lights of her life. In addition, Connie leaves two brothers, Bill Omohundro, and Joe (Arlene) Omohundro and a sister, Sheri Burlingame, all of Tennessee, as well as much loved cousins Barbara (Dee) Brake and Clayton Whitaker, nieces and nephews. Connie would want us to acknowledge her earth bound angels, Susie Ashbaugh, Kathy Taylor, Motty Franks, Brandi Milne, Pat Hall and Claudia Safley for all their help.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 Tuesday April 23 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO with a funeral service at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224 Wednesday April 24 at 11:00 AM.
