Mr. Johnson was born on March 26, 1941 in Parsons, Kansas.
Darwin is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue Johnson of 49 years and his 3 children, Williston B. Palmer McCain of Escondido, California, Matthew McCain of Belton, Missouri and his daughter Melinda Drury of Olathe, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
After graduation from Salina Kansas High School he attended Kansas State for his B.A., Kansas University for his JD and UMKC for his Master of Laws. He practiced law for 50 years in Kansas and Missouri.
Darwin also was in the U.S. Army and Reserves for 30 years when he retired as a Colonel in the Judge Advocate General Corp. He received many medals and awards during his career including the Legion of Merit. He also served as commander of the 8th Military Law Center. While in the service he met and fell in love with his wife Sue and her two young sons.
Darwin was a long time member of Holmeswood Baptist Church where he served as the church Moderator, Chairperson of Deacon committee and was on the Board of Directors and Executive committee of the Board. He also served on the Mission committee and taught a Bible Fellowship class for many years.
Darwin's passion was being involved in the mission of Alive Global, an international ministry led by Nita Edwards. With Alive Global he went to Asia on 3 different mission trips and served on their Board of Directors.
Much more important however than Darwin's career and his many accomplishments was the role-model he was to his entire family. He was amazing in his unwavering love to each and his words of wisdom will be missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 25th at 9:30am at Holmeswood Baptist Church at 9700 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with military honors at Mount Moriah Cemetery at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Holmeswood Baptist Church or Alive Global, Post Office Box 7506, Falls Church, Virginia 22040-7506.
