David Dewey Ginter Jr, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on January 5, 2016. Dave was born October 7, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. He served two years in the Army, stationed at Ft. Mommouth, New Jersey during the Korean War. He married Hazel Baugher on December 19, 1950 at her parents’ home in Galt, Missouri. Together they had three children. He worked for a number of years in insurance accounting and finance, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Overland Park Christian Church, where he served as treasurer of the NOW Group; he served as past Commander of the RC Connie Burns Post #71; a member of the 40 & 8 Societe; and volunteered at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel. Survivors include his son Steve (Melanie) Ginter of Centreville, Virginia; daughter Janice (Richard) Millard of Prairie Village, Kansas; daughter Debbie (Scott) Smith of Lenexa, Kansas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10AM, Friday, January 8th followed by funeral service at 11AM at Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 West 75 Street, Overland Park, Kansas,66204. Burial to follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dave’s honor to Overland Park Christian Church.
