David Alan Shepard, Jr., was born February 13, 1964, to his loving parents, Judy and David, Sr. He joined sisters Cindy and Stephanie as the third child. Dave grew up in Kansas City, MO, and attended Hickman Mills schools from kindergarten on. In 1982 he graduated from Hickman Mills High School. He was close to his grandparents, Roy and Betty Kristianson, and Ben and Edna Shepard. We know they are all reunited now in heaven. After high school Dave attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, where he met his future wife, Joany Conant. Before Dave finished his degree he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served four years, some of it flying back and forth to Saudi Arabia as a communications technician. He was eventually stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, where he was reunited with Joany. They were married January 8, 1988, in a small ceremony in Kansas City. Once Dave was discharged, they moved to Joany's hometown of Green Bay, WI. They have continued to live for 27 years around that same area. The last several years they lived in a beautiful 100 year old home in Plymouth, WI. Dave and Joany have enjoyed many remodeling projects together in their family home. Dave and Joany added two children to their family. Jonathan was born in January 1991 and later Kaitlyn made their family complete when she was born in July 1993. Their family enjoyed serving together in their local church and traveling together. A very special memory is of their trip to Italy, just three summers ago. Dave was a 1991 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. In 2010 David was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Marquette University School of Law. Dave worked primarily in the IT field, the past seventeen years for Thrivent Financial. Dave's hobbies have included playing the guitar, playing tennis, and playing chess. Joany says he would often try to beat Jon at chess, but Jon would usually come out on top! David A. Shepard, Jr., passed away on December 9, 2014, after a very brief illness. He was a well-loved husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Dave will be deeply missed by his family and friends. From Ecclesiastes: There is a time for everything...a time to be born and a time to die...He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2014 from 9 am until service time at 10 am at the Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Exodus Cry, 714 Main Street, Grandview, MO 64030.
