Grandpa was a terrific person,always with a smile. It was my honor to know this kind man at wornall station and Martin city, he will be missed, rest in peace Don.

I played with him in a couple of different bands and we just played an early gig on New Years Eve together. He was an inspiration and had just the right touch on the cymbals and the right vibe going...I can imagine how he must be playing now...

When Anthony joined my first grade class at Christ the King School, I had the privilege of meeting Don.  What a kind and generous man! He read to my class every Monday morning and helped us on numerous field trips.  He did this, not only when Anthony was in school, but also for the next six years.  The children adored him and called him Grampa.  I know he is now drumming in the celestial choir.  He is an example of a life well lived.

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. From childhood stories I knew him as a another of the great musicians touring with what were known as 'territorial' band.  My condolences.  Tom Pierce MD.

Gramps was Love!  He spent seven years as a Youth Friend, later Center Friend, in the English Language Learners' Classroom at Indian Creek.  I can honestly say he touched the hearts of more than just ELL students.  He read to us; he sang to us; he simply loved us into becoming better people.
