Donald was a Priesthood holder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, Class of 1959. He was a veteran of the Missouri National Guard, Army Reserves. He had lived in Lenexa, Kansas since 1979.
Donald was involved in the Boy Scouts of America (Scouts BSA) for 69 years, since becoming a Cub Scout. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with two Palms. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic O Say, where he was known as Keeper of the Wampum Flying White Star at Camp H. Roe Bartle. He was Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. He was Wood Badge trained and received the District Award of Merit. He was very proud of his two Eagle Scout sons and pleased to see his grandson achieve Life rank on his trail to Eagle.
He was the owner of Abacus Construction specializing in commercial and residential remodeling.
Loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by wife Judy of 55 years, daughters Nicole (and Andrew Carey), Valerie (and Robert Wolf), sons Tyler (and Kenna), and Sterling (and Taylor), and five grandchildren, Natalynn, Tessa, Aiden, Dani, and Allie, who all live in Kansas. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Garner and Loma Sunterra and their families, who reside in Texas.
Donald’s Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 21515 W. 101st St., Lenexa, KS 66215 7 PM-Scout Remembrance and Military Honors. 7:30 PM-Celebration of Life.
