Doris was born on November 10, 1921 to George Howard Grove and Lula Ida (Huebner) Grove. Doris attended Munger Grade School and graduated from North Kansas City High School class of 1939. She retired from the USDA but also worked at TWA and the Folger Coffee Company.
Doris was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was very active for decades. She enjoyed being a member of the Garden Club and she enjoyed her flowers. She was a good piano player who liked to play it daily. She was also an active member of the Nelson Art Gallery "Friends of Art" for many years. In later years, she enjoyed the company of her two great-grandsons. She finally made it to Hawaii at age 90 where she spent a week on two islands. She was a resident of Prairie Village for 60 years.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Wayne Zinn, brothers Robert E. Grove and Howard E. Grove.
She is survived by daughter Cheryl A. (Tom) Golden, son James W. Zinn, grandchildren Stacey (Koi) Morford & Drew Golden and two great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 4th followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
