She was born Dorothy Irene Bradbury on January 3, 1925 in Holden, MO. Dorothy worked for Avon Products, Inc. for 25 years but her passion was gardening. Her yard was usually one of the most beautiful in the entire neighborhood and her Iris beds were legendary. In fact, many of her neighbors referred to her as the “Iris Lady.” Dorothy didn’t know a stranger and was much loved by everyone who knew her. She inherited a wicked sense of humor from her father, Thomas Bradbury, and a loving, kind nature from her mother, Mildred Bradbury.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Norman Goodman, and her sister, Marian Young. Dorothy is survived by her three children Nancy Erwine of Liberty, MO, Johnny Goodman of Parachute, CO, and Andrew Goodman of Kansas City, MO; son-in-law John Erwine of Liberty, MO, and daughter-in-law Linda Goodman of Parachute, CO; five grandchildren, one “adopted” grandchild, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Roberta Penrose of Independence, MO, Norma Ewbank of Odessa, MO, and June Scrutchfield of Kingsville, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
Arrangements under the direction of Mt Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
