Dorothy M. Jonas, 91, Independence, MO, passed away May 23, 2016. Visitation Wed., May 25 at McGilley & Sheil Chapel from 6-8 pm with rosary at 5:30. Funeral Mass 10 am Thurs., May 26 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Indep., MO. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Dorothy was born March 16, 1925 in Fairbury, NE to Grover Cleveland & Bertha Helena (Kuck) Culp. She was a parishioner of the former St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, now Our Lady of Peace, where she was a volunteer & member of the Altar Society. She & her husband George were recipients of the Bishop’s Award in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 6 siblings & son-in-law Kevin Nauser. Survivors include sons, Matthew (Mary Ann), Michael (Linda), Frederick (Lori), Francis (Tammy) & George; daughters, Mary Warner (Michael), Trudy Jonas (Chris Petrovic) & Theresa Nauser; sisters Leona Heyen, Loretta Ayers & Muriel Oliver; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Bishop Sullivan Center or Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
