Dorothy E. “Dolly” Nichols, 94 year-old Raymore, Missouri resident, passed away June 19, 2012. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, followed by a celebration of life and graveside service at 10:00 a.m. in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice. Dolly was born February 6, 1918 in New York, New York, daughter of Fred and Helen (Bradley) Eydeler. Dolly toured the globe as a professional acrobatic dancer. Under the stage name, “Dolly Arden,” she amazed audiences in New York City, Chicago, Cuba and several European countries. In the late 1940s, Dorothy and her family settled in Kansas City where she spent decades teaching ballet, jazz, tap and gymnastics to hundreds of young performers. After teaching out of her home and at local schools and community centers, she fulfilled her dream of opening her own studio in the mid-1950s. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. “Nick” Nichols and daughter Barbara McLain. She is survived by her sons Bob Nichols and Brent Nichols, son-in-law Bruce McLain and Arlene, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
