Dorothy Culver was born in Hopkins, Missouri on February 24, 1932. She went to elementary school in Hopkins, and started high school in Maryville, Missouri. She graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Dorothy met her husband, Warren Dean Schultz, on a blind date when she was 24. They immediately felt a spark and were happily married for 66 years. They lived in their same home in Kansas City for 59 years.
Dorothy and Warren enjoyed camping and fishing together. For the past 44 years they took a week long fishing trip in Minnesota.
Dorothy also loved to travel, square dance, garden and entertain family and friends. Dorothy was always ready for a party and enjoyed being with others, talking, and playing cards or games.
Dorothy was an active member of Holy Trinity Church in Grandview. Her faith was strong. She died in peace believing she was going “Home” to meet her Lord on March 30, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Agnes Culver and Freddie Leslie Culver; her two sisters and their spouses, Katherine and Max Niles, JoAnn and Jim Kline; and a younger brother, Leland Culver who died at a very young age.
Living to morn her loss is her dear husband, Warren; two nieces and nephews, Janice Niles of Phoenix Arizona, Fred Niles (wife Patricia) of Wichita, Kansas, Sue Ann Kline of Overland Park, Kansas, and Mikel Kline (wife Nancy) of Boynton Beach, Florida; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. And many many friends who loved her.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. With a funeral service following at 10:30 AM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home. 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
