Doug moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in September of 1962. He graduated Lee’s Summit High School class of 1973. After graduating he met his soon to be wife Kathy, July 21st 1973. Doug furthered his education in automotive technology and graduated Metropolitan Community College at Longview in 1975.
Douglas and Kathy were married May 22nd 1976, in Kathy’s hometown of Lyons, Nebraska. They moved to their forever home in Raytown, Missouri that same year (1976). Doug had many jobs throughout the years, such as a bank teller, a beer vendor for the Kansas City Royals with volume services, an auto parts sales associate with Auto Zone. Doug's main job was for the United States Federal Government in the General Services Administration for 30 years before retiring.
Doug enjoyed many activities as a young adult and into his later years. Everything from being in the astronomy club in high school, in a bowling league with Kathy, Square dancing, and American muscle cars. After his 3 kids came along he was everything from a baseball, basketball, and softball coach for all 3 kids for many years. Later became an avid supporter of his grand daughter Nova on youth softball. After many years after his 3 kids were grown, Doug continued his love for American muscle cars by joining the local Pontic chapter of Kansas City. He loved taking his supped up 2001 Pontic Transam to several car shows with the club. Doug got “stuck” in the 60’s as far as music went. He loved his rock-n-roll. Everything from The Beach Boys to Jan and Dean and even attended a live concert featuring Elvis Presley with Kathy and friends.
