

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Debbie Hackett, and best friend and brother, Dylan Hackett. He is also survived by his grandmother, Linda Phillips, loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dustin grew up in Overland Park, KS. He loved his younger brother, basketball and soccer. He was an avid KU and Chiefs fan along with his dad and brother. Following graduation from Blue Valley Northwest High School in 2004, he attended and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008 with a degree in Communications and Economics. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Immediately following graduation, he moved to Tulsa, OK to work in Sales at Gallo Wine. He relocated to Portland, Austin, and Oklahoma City as his career progressed. In Oklahoma he was a Vice President for Republic National Distribution Company.
In March 2020, Dustin happily moved home to Kansas City to be near family and friends. He worked for The Wine Group with a special assignment at Anheuser-Busch. In June 2023, he left his job, sold his home in Leawood, KS, bought a Ford truck and RV and traveled the Western states. He fell in love with the Missoula, MT area and purchased 43 acres on top of a mountain backing up to the Lolo National Forest in Frenchtown, MT. He parked his RV there and planned to develop the property with a cabin. Dustin was the happiest when he was hiking, camping, canoeing, riding his bike and enjoying the beautiful outdoors in the West.
Dustin loved his two dogs, Moose and Buck, who traveled with him wherever he went.
Dustin cherished the friends he made across the country. His brother, Dylan, and his childhood friends, Dan Saathoff and Kevin Tadtman, were always there for him.
Dustin was smart, kind, lived life to the fullest and died after a struggle with depression.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection (13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS). A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Wesley Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. with no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection/Food Mobile or the American Red Cross/North Carolina Relief/Helene.
