

Emmett (Buddy) Lee Knight, formerly of Independence, Missouri passed away August 1, 2011 at Anna Kaseman Hospice Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Emmett worked at the Plating Foundry in Independence before hiring on at Allis Chalmers where he retired after more than 25 years of service. Emmett would spend his remaining years in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his mother and brother Mike. Emmett was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Independence for many years before moving to Albuquerque and joining Monterey Baptist Church. He volunteered in both churches for various group activities and was a member of the church choir. Emmett was an avid bowler taking home many trophies and many awards over the years. He played the part of Deputy in the Santa Caligon Shootout re-enactment for several years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles on the square. Emmett was preceded in death by his father Dr. Eugene Knight and his mother Rachel Katherine Knight of Independence, Missouri and his brother Rayburn Eugene Hastings of Virginia. He leaves his fiancée Marian Mamma of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brother Michael (Mike) Knight and sister-in-law Alexa Fabry-Knight of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister Sherrelyn Kay Green and brother-in-law Paul L. Green of Bates City, Missouri; six nieces and nephews; and eleven great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be held Friday, August 19, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City, Missouri.
