

Eugene Thomas Sheridan was born on January 9th, 1930 in New York, NY, the only child of Agnes (Fitzgerald) and Eugene T. Sheridan, Sr. He entered the religious life in the community of the Christian Brothers of Ireland as Brother Vincent, teaching in many schools in the New York area and furthering his religious education at Fordham and Catholic University. After several years Gene left the order and relocated to Kansas City, MO where he became a religious educator for adults for the Diocese of KC-St. Joseph. Gene also taught at Hogan High School. Thereafter, he became a Certified Professional Counselor acquiring a Master’s Degree from UMKC and became a counselor with the Family Division of Jackson County Juvenile Court. Music was one of Gene’s many interests. He was a talented pianist and a long-time member of the STM Celebration Choir.
Gene entered into eternal life on February 13th, 2016. Surviving to celebrate his life are his beloved wife Paula; children Regina (Mike) Nelson, David (Jennifer) Sheridan, Ellen (Denis) Nolan, and Nora (Mark) Brand; stepdaughters Cecilia Riegel, Denise McKinnie, and Melissa Turner; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO on Wednesday, February 17th, at 4:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 p.m. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery the following morning. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Thomas More Church, or Christian Brothers, 260 Wilmot St., New Rochelle, NY 10804.
