

Eva Marie (Dingus) Thompson, 85, of Kansas City, KS passed away on April 1, 2012 in Kansas City, MO. Eva Marie Dingus was born on February 27, 1927 in Centerville, Linn County, Kansas to Chester and Ina (McGregory) Dingus. Eva married Murde W. Thompson on January 18, 1946 and they remained married for 37 years until his death on November 27, 1983. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers and sisters, Marvin Dingus, Carl and Dorothy Dingus, Donna Louise (Dingus) and Francis Shahan, Ruth Maxine Dingus; and Elizabeth Dingus in childhood. She is survived by her sons, Chester W. Thompson of the home and Gary A. Thompson and his spouse, Joanne, of the Louisburg/Paola area of rural Miami County, KS. Also surviving her are brothers and sisters, Helen Katherine (Dingus) Dabbs of DeSoto, KS, Clarence and Leta Dingus of Holcomb, KS, Robert Joseph and Sue Dingus of Spring Hill, KS, Nellie (Dingus) and Don Davis of Rantoul, KS, Cecil Dingus of Pleasanton, KS; sister-in-law, Marjorie Palmer Dingus of Pleasanton, KS; grandchildren, Melissa Thompson of Kansas City, MO, William Thompson of Overland Park, KS, Jessica (Thompson) and Steve Duckworth, Beth Thompson, and Joseph Thompson; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Isabella, and Emma Duckworth and Maggie Ming, all of Paola, KS; and a great number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Eva spent her life as a wife, mother, homemaker and community volunteer. She was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army Church and its Women’s Guild Club in Kansas City, MO. She remained faithful and supportive to her church and family for the remainder of her life.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thurs, April 5, 2012 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, with burial to follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. on Wed at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salvation Army.
