Evelyn Joyce Harris Baer

Evelyn Joyce (Harris) Baer, 75, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit. She was born in Atchison, Kansas to Eldon Gerald and Eva Elnora (Cain) Harris on July 2, 1936. Always known as Joyce, she attended The Salvation Army in Atchison until she entered full-time Salvation Army ministry, where she served in various communities across the Midwest alongside her husband, Charles Baer, for forty-two years before retiring in 1999. She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother James Harris, and a sister-in-law Mary Anne Harris. Joyce is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Charles R. Baer; daughter Rae Lynette Baer; son Gary Douglas Baer and daughter-in-law Pamela Sue (Harrington) Baer; granddaughter Amarinda Kaitlyn Baer; several cousins, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at The Salvation Army, 14700 E. Truman Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
