I knew, even from an early age, just how important Little Grandma was. With a childhood filled with knowledge, smiles, and a warm heart it seemed there was little this person could do to improve it more that she already had. Though, I'd say the most surprising to come from the life I got to spend with her, was the fame I'd receive at the local Denny's. Taking her out 1 on 1 to enjoy a meal and share stories are memories I hold very dear. Filled with laughs, playful back and forth, and small fuss about the length of my hair - I will never forget how often she would tell me how happy she was. Even in short hour long lunches, she'd grab my hand and, with bright eyes, exclaim just how lucky she was. I will never be able to exclaim just how lucky I am to have been able to spend this time with her. And further more, the recognition I get from the local Denny's staff. I love you Grandma, I look forward to joking and laughing with you again very soon. I'll be practicing.

Grandma taught me accountability not just through the form of discipline but through the word of God. There were hours upon hours of daily conversations sitting on the floor in her workroom where I would gain deeper understanding of life. There was never a topic we wouldn't discuss and I was always seeking understanding and she was always providing examples that lead me down a path of discovery. She never forced her opinion and always led me to find my own conclusion or answer. There were things in life that were concrete, but we shared a bond of growth to find meaning in the higher levels of life's perplexing circumstances. She taught me to put God at the forefront of my life and to follow the narrow path. She taught me that if I left that path, that God would always lead me back. She is a great example of what it means to have a relationship with God. She has always been my inspiration. She shared her wisdom, love,  life lessons and is my best example of what it means to overcome adversity. I will cherish every memory, but ultimately it will be the lasting imprint of her love that she devoted to me that has shaped me into the man I am and that can be felt by those around me. I will miss seeing the love she had for me in her eyes and the feeling of her love with every embrace, but I can feel her love in my heart and it is always with me. 

Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep last Wednesday. She would not want us to be sad because she's going home to see Jesus. She would  often speak about needing to go home and I would tell her Mom you are home you're in your apartment, in your bed. She would say no I'm ready to go  to my heavenly home. I was blessed to have had the most amazing mother and I will miss her greatly. There are many memories we can all share together at a later time but what I want to share is the things she taught me. She taught these thing not only by what she said but how she lived her life. She taught me to pray, the road to salvation, how to be strong and when to be tinder. She taught me how to work hard, and never give up. She taught me not to gossip or to bully. She taught me how to stand up for my self and others who can't. She taught me you don't have to be rich with monetary things there not important. What is important is the love of your family and friends. She taught me to be honest with people and myself. I am by far not a perfect  person but each day I strive to do better. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. She truly tried to walk the walk in everything she did in life. I miss you terribly Mom but  hallelujah you are in heaven and the sorrows of this earthly world is over. 

I never got to meet my real grandparents since they passed away before I was born. Evelyn filled that void in the greatest way imaginable. I wasn't her blood, but she made me her own and loved me the same. I'll never forget her smile and the way her entire upper body would shake when she laughed. She was the sweetest and warmest women I've ever known. The joy in her heart was unshakable. The love she had for her family and for God defined her, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She was the woman my dad respected most in the world, and to this day I am humbled by her faith in Jesus. Evelyn loved God not because she found him useful, but because she found him beautiful. And she knew there was nothing in this world more useful than finding God beautiful. I'll never forget the Saturday mornings we had fresh monkey bread waiting for us, and the bags of pumpkin muffins with my name on it during the holidays. They were unique and delicious, and made all the better by the simple fact that the nicest lady in the whole darn world made them especially for me.  I am a better person for having known her and having shared in her wisdom. Thank you for everything, Grandma. It was my deepest pleasure and honor to know you. You ran the race, you kept the faith, and I know the moment heaven opened its doors to you, the lord said "Hallelujah, you're home. Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Grandma, I love you so very much and you are going to be very missed. I always think about when I was little and how you brought God into my life with story books you would read to myself and Sarah on your bed every night and how we would peacefully fall asleep listening to stories on tape. How every morning you would wake up myself, Sarah and Matthew by yelling are name from the kitchen and singing "it's time to get up in the morning" and we would yell back that we are awake now you can stop singing! Lol. You always had breakfast going for us and not just cereal, but donuts, eggs in the basket and pancakes! You always worked so hard day and long into the night but you always had time for your family. You were always there for us grandma and constantly teaching us about God and life. I have so many memories I could go on for hours, but I wount. There all in my heart and I will remember each and everyone one of them. I love you grandma. I'm happy you are not in pain anymore and you are in heaven with grandpa but I'm going to miss are snap chat pictures and videos and hanging out with you. Holidays are going to be different now but I think I might carry on the tradition of making a new kinda crazy dish every year and make everyone eat it! We are all gonna be okay grandma. You tought us all well! 

Grandma, I love you and will miss you more than words could describe.  You taught me so much in life from God to driving and how to be a good man and everything in between.  I'll miss our long phone conversations that could and usually did last for hours. Ill miss our coverage of the bible every time I got a new tattoo. Just so you know the next one will be in your honor and you cant stop me. Lol. I now have to set my selfish ways aside and share you with Jesus in heaven. I know you are were you want to be. This earth will miss you and the joy and happiness you brought to it. You've always been my inspiration to be better, work harder and to do better for others. I could never repay for what you've given me. My tears are from the memories we've had and knowing we wont make another together on this earth. I know you will watch me from the heavens just like you did from here on earth. I'm so happy for you and I know you are in the arms of your husband. Tell him I say hi and I cant wait to meet him. I'm glad you know longer require crutches, leg braces or wheelchairs. There's no good byes here, only I will see you later and I cant wait to see you again. I love you Grandma!!!

Evelyn was an angel for many of us. She had a light inside of her that you could see in her eyes. I always saw Jesus when I looked into her eyes.  From the first time I met her in Nov. of 2010 she was my friend. I love her so much and know that when Jesus called her name she started running to Him. 
Her "little light" was a lighthouse that brought many to the harbor. God bless all who loved her.
