Evelyn West Payne Thomas was guided by the spirits of those who passed before to her heavenly reward on May 14, 2013. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the home of her family where she resided since the Lou Gehrig disease diagnosis.
Evelyn was born October 7, 1935 in Farragut, Iowa to Everett and Feanette West. She was the oldest of three children and a star basketball player. She married William L. Payne, Jr. on June 18, 1960, he preceded her in death. She later married Jimmie Thomas, who also preceded her in death. She was the ultimate role model and mother to Monica Payne-McSweeney. Evelyn had a long career with the Federal Government.
She will be forever missed by all that knew her, including her daughter Monica, son-in-law William McSweeney III, and best buddy and grandson Liam McSweeney. She was dearly loved by extended family and friends.
