

Felix Joseph Witkowicz, 75 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 as a result of a long battle with prostate cancer. He passed peacefully with his wife and three daughters by his side.
Felix was born in Acushnet, MA to Felix S. and Mary (Osenkowski) Witkowicz, the oldest of five children. He attended Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, MA. After the recommendation of his guidance counselor, he applied and attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He furthered his education and was awarded a Master of Science in Education degree specializing in Guidance Counseling-Secondary Education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. Felix spent 34 years of his career in the Kansas City Missouri School District both as a Social Studies teacher, Guidance Counselor and later as a Coordinator of Vocational Guidance and Placement. He spent 6 years with the Grandview School District where he created a Career Tech program for students and lastly served 2 years before retiring as a recruiter for the Herndon Career Center in the Raytown School District. Over his career he received many awards and letters of Commendation for Outstanding Professionalism in Guidance and Counseling.
Preceded in death by his parents. Felix is survived by his wife Susan Witkowicz, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughters Danielle (Gary) Gose of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sandra (Mark) Nussbeck of Kansas City, MO, Cheryl (Eric) Dunn of Shawnee, KS, grandchildren Robby, Michael and Kate Gose, Reese and Ryan Nussbeck, and Andrew and Alina Dunn; stepsons Nathan (Shannon) Marsh of Chillicothe, MO, Tim (Amanda) Marsh of Chillicothe, MO. and step granddaughters Landry and Quinlyn Marsh and McKinlee Marsh. Also survived by his siblings, Stas (Terri) Witkowicz of CT, Mary Anne (Walter) Polchlopek of MA, Leon (Nancy) Witko of FL and Janice (Tony) Ragazzo of NY and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and served as a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Council #8334. He also served seven years as a Specialist Fifth Class in the United States Army Reserve and devoted his life to veteran causes.
He was a very proud swim dad and enjoyed coaching 19 seasons of soccer, playing golf, traveling, and being with friends and family. He kept a pristine lawn and he was a very involved proud father to his three daughters and grandchildren. He was blessed to meet his wife Susan in his later years; they shared many happy adventures traveling.
He will long be remembered for his faith, generosity, courage and fighting spirit.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff and nurses at Kansas City Hospice House who provided excellent care in his last days.
