

Frances Elizabeth Boyd, 101, passed away January 19, 2013. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Monday, January 21 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131, with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Entombment to follow immediately in Temple Mausoleum at Mount Moriah Cemetery. Frances was born to Henry Kauffman Obert and Emma Isabelle (McCarty) Obert in Cass County near Garden City, Missouri. She graduated from Centerview High School with the class of 1929 and went on to attend Sedalia Business College for two years. Frances worked at several different businesses in Kansas City, making a good reputation for herself. While working in Kansas City, she met George F. Boyd, Sr., the love of her life, whom she married August 24, 1947 at her sister's home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Early in their marriage, they lived in Kansas City, and after George had established his truck line, they relocated to Carthage, Missouri. Frances and George would later go on to establish a home in Colorado, where they enjoyed their summers together and celebrated their golden anniversary August 24, 1998. Frances and George moved back to Kansas City after selling the truck line, building their new home at Alameda Towers on the Plaza, where Frances stayed until she needed more help. She later moved to Kingswood Manor, where she celebrated her 101st birthday. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Kenneth and James, and sister Helen. She is survived by stepson, George, Jr. and his daughters Jennie and Jacque, half-sister Anna Lou Engelhardt and her family members: grand niece and grand nephews and their spouses, great nieces, other nieces and nephews of her deceased sister.
