

Frances Ann (Birdsell) McKenna born September 1, 1939 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 18th, 2014. Preceded by her parents Glen and Mary Birdsell, her brothers John Glen Birdsell and Joe Raymond Birdsell, her husband Joseph E. McKenna Jr. and her great grandson Joseph Carroll. Survived by her daughters Jolita (Jeff) Park; Lisa (Frank) Carroll; her sons Patrick (Monica) McKenna; Glen (Angie) McKenna; her grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, and Keith Park; Joey (Lindsey) Carroll and Suzanne Carroll; Shawn and Caitlin McKenna, Brandon Mulhall; and Alyson McKenna, and great grandson Liam Carroll plus several nieces and nephews. Attended Cherokee grade school in Cherokee, Kansas and graduated Cherokee high school in 1957. She worked for Montgomery Ward's before moving to Kansas City in 1961. Frances was a stay at home mother where she raised four of her children and cared for numerous grandchildren and other neighborhood children. She was an avid quilter, loved to crochet and enjoyed spending time at the Isle of Capri with her family. The family would like to personally thank Alice Myers and Iesha Burnhen from the Saint Luke's Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22 at Guardian Angels Church, 1320 Westport Road. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
