

Frank Siler, 91, passed from this life and onto the next on May 30, 2015. He was born on March 20, 1924, the 8th of nine children. His parents Martin and Francis (Rieke) Siler, and 8 other brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He was married to the love of his life Janet for 54 years who preceded him in death; theirs was a spectacular marriage filled with love, laughter, dancing, travel and many special friendships and of course, the Lake and Terra Tiger stories too. Frank leaves behind his son Martin Siler and wife Debbie. His daughter Ann Laschober and husband Ron. His grandchildren Brittany and Luke Siler, Ryan Laschober (Ashleigh), Jeff Laschober (Rebecca) and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a devoted family man and became the Patriarch of his family, loving and supporting many.
Frank lived an amazing life. From growing up working hard on a family farm, which was lost in the depression, to flying in B-17's during WW2 where 2 of his missions were on D-Day. The Siler and Rieke familes were large and played a prominent role in building this city. His business successes included Siler Lawn and Garden Center/Landscape Contracting and Siler Turf Farms. His projects were many and all over the city. They included work at the old Municipal Stadium downtown, KCI Airport, Rockhurst High School and College, Overland Park Golf Course, and the Truman Library. He was a co-founder of the Kansas City Turf Association.
A visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., KCMO on Wednesday, June 3rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic church at 11822 Holmes Rd. KCMO on Thursday, June 4th at 10:00 a.m. with burial and reception following.
