Gary Myers, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, age 68. He was born in Independence, MO to Robert and Carolyn Myers. After graduating from Raytown High School, Gary attended the University of Arkansas and later joined his father in the family business, Delta Fabricators Incorporated.
Gary married his wife, Sue May 25, 1978. They had two children, Rene, and Douglas. Gary’s children were the light of his life. He cherished his grandchildren, Maxwell, Sawyer, and Carolyn and truly thought the world of them along with his extended grandchildren, Isaac and Gabby.
Gary had a big laugh and personality that filled the room. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gary was always busy working on big projects or planning adventures. He proudly carried on the legacy of his father’s family steel business, Delta Fabricators, for almost 20 years. When he retired in 2020 he enjoyed traveling the world with Sue.
He was well known and respected in the community and loved by many. Gary will be missed by his lifelong friends that enjoyed his many passions along with his love of the outdoors. Gary was kind, caring, sarcastic, and honestly the most “badass outdoorsman” that ever lived. He really did possess a “larger than life” personality. Wherever he went, he left a lasting impression. He had a heart of gold.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Rene Nelson (Mike); son, Douglas (Leah); and his grandchildren, Max Nelson, Sawyer Nelson, and Carolyn Myers.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 22nd, 1:00 PM at V’s Italiano Ristorante 10819 East US Highway 40, Independence, MO 64055.
