

George was an Air Force Veteran, having served 4 years stateside during the Korean War, assigned to the Air Training Command in Cheyenne, WY. It was during this time he met and married Dorothy Jean (Daniels) Lightfoot in Laramie, WY on July 5, 1952.
After discharge, George and Dorothy returned to his hometown, Kansas City, MO, where he worked in the Engineering Department of Marley Cooling Tower Company for the next 39 yrs, until his retirement as Senior Group Supervisor in 1993.
George had a busy, happy retirement filled with family, friends, travel (which included local and abroad), church, and his artwork which he dearly loved, including the annual Westport Art Show.
George was a man of faith, an advocate for the church, regular in attendance and a Baptist Deacon emeritus. He was most recently a member of The Village Presbyterian Church on Mission Road. His past memberships include First Baptist Church of Independence, MO and Ruskin Heights Baptist Church in South Kansas City, MO.
George is preceded in death by his parents O.R. & Julia Lightfoot, his wife Dorothy of 59 yrs, and his friend Joanne Rootes.
He is survived by his son Brian, granddaughter Renee, who is mother of his two great-grandsons Brenden Lightfoot (close companion to George the last 16 years) and Chase Lightfoot-Bunce. He is also survived by his good neighbor, friend, and companion for the last two years, Judy Terrill, along with many good friends from all walks of his life.
No flowers please. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
A visitation for George will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with funeral service to begin at 10:00 AM, followed by burial, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
