Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Buchanan

Jerry grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, graduated Westport High school in 1957. Jerry was married to Carol Ann Bassett in August 1960 and eventually moved to Independence, Missouri.

He is survived by two Daughters, four Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by his Brother, Melvin Walters and many many nieces and nephews all whom he loved very much.

Jerry was employed by several local trucking companies over the years with the Teamsters Union where he retired from in 1991.He and Carol became Snowbirds spending their winters in Pharr, Texas at an RV Park called Texas Trails. They loved all their friends who became like family down there. They both loved to do woodworking and stained glass projects as well as dance their socks off to Country and Western music! Jerry always loved to dance which he has subsequently passed along to several generations! It appears the Great Grandchildren have great rhythm too!

Jerry and Carol eventually moved to Oak Grove, Missouri living at White Oaks Crossing. After the passing of Carol in January 2011 to cancer, Jerry eventually met and married Echo McAfee in April, 2016. They too spent their winters in Texas at Texas Trails RV Park dancing their socks off as well!

Jerry was a wonderful Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Uncle. He always had a joke ready, loved to share stories and laugh a lot! He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior in September, 2005 where he was baptized at First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Missouri. This brings us all joy in knowing he is spending eternity in his Heavenly Home and we will see him again!

He is preceded in death, by his parents, Harold and Viola Buchanan and first wife Carol Buchanan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, Independence, Missouri.
