Gilbert Milton Gilgus, 90, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 with his daughter by his side.

Gib was born on July 11, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Philip and Helen (Kays) Gilgus. Gib was a graduate of Paseo High School, and UMKC where he received a degree in Economics. He later received a diploma from Cleveland Chiropractic College. Eventually, he obtained his Real Estate License and had a successful career with JC Nichols until his retirement.

Gib started playing tennis when he was 14 years old. It became more than just a hobby to him, he became the plaza tennis pro where he loved teaching others the sport that was his lifelong passion.

Gib had a great love for all of his family, and his canine companions that enriched his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Gib was thrilled to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, after being a lifelong fan.

He will be greatly missed by his family.

Gib was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Helen Gilgus, and his sister, Frances Luder. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Duckworth; his son, Dr. Douglas (Jennifer) Helm; his niece Jennifer (Dave) Morris; grandchildren Amy Dimitras, Jeffrey Pearson, Brittnay Helm, Haley Helm, Clayton Helm; and great-grandchildren Landon Dimitras, McKinley Dimitras, Stella Dimitras, and Brandt Wichers.
