Gregory Alan Buford, lovingly known as Greg, passed away on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and fierce love. He was born on September 15, 1955, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri — a city that shaped the tough, loyal, and spirited man he became.
Greg was many things: stubborn, hard-headed, hardworking, and unapologetically himself. He was a fighter in every sense of the word. But beneath that grit was a deeply loving, charismatic, and funny man who cared more than he ever let on. He could be obnoxious in the most endearing way, the kind of person who filled a room with his presence and made sure you knew he was there.
He loved sports, good conversation, and especially “shooting the shit” with anyone willing to sit awhile. He was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, and his appreciation for music and storytelling often brought joy to those around him. Above all else, he loved his family fiercely. He also had a soft heart for animals — and once was even hit by a car while trying to save one, a perfect reflection of his instinct to protect.
Greg was the kind of man who would tell you, “You know I worry about you,” because he truly did. He carried concern for others quietly but constantly. And no matter how a visit ended, he would always say, “Take care,” words that now feel like a final embrace.
He is survived by his three children: Josh Miller, Tim Sharp, and Tiffany Ethridge. He was a proud grandfather to Brylan, Ryker, Myles, Kendra, Josh Jr, Myannah, Danny, Mikah, Kenzlee, Isabella, and Lilith. He also leaves behind beloved nephews and niece: Jeremiah, Jared, Hannah, Adam, and Jeff, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carolyn Buford; his brothers, Gary, Kent, and Kevin; and his niece, Lindsay
His memory will live on in every story told, every laugh shared, and every reminder to take care of one another — just like he always did.
