Harriet Elizabeth Bullock

Harriet Bullock age 92, Olathe, Kansas died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Shawnee Post Acute Rehab Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at Floral Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133, burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chapel, Service to begin at 2: 00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Bullock was born May 29, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA and moved with her family to Ottumwa, Iowa in 1940. When she graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in 1953, she began working for Hallmark Cards in their retail "Halls" store in downtown Kansas City, and later worked in their art department at the Hallmark plant at 25th and Grand Avenue in Kansas City, MO.

On November 1, 1953, she married John E. (Jack) Bullock, Jr. of Kansas City, MO and formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa. They were married 40 years before his death on March 25th, 1994, of lung cancer.

She also worked for the Internal Revenue Service during the 1970's until the family moved to Denver, CO in 1979. When they returned to this area in 1985, she devoted her time to homemaking, and became a member of the Olathe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Arthritis Foundation.

She was preceded in death by her son, John E. Bullock, III and her parents, Charles and Laurie Sutton.

She is survived by two daughters, Laurie and husband Douglas Byerley of Roeland Park, KS and Nancy Everest of Mission, KS, seven grandchildren; John (Laura), Christopher and Scott Byerley, Rachel Friend (Ricky), Matthew (Yessenia) and Jacob Everest, Megan Bullock, and one great grandchild Mia Byerley.
