She was born on January 14, 1920, in Eagleville, MO. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Joe, of 67 years, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Teddy Joe Carlton (Betsy) of Huntington Beach, CA, and Harry Lee Carlton (Darlene) of Hendersonville, TN; one sister, Virginia Embree and one brother Marvin Burns. She was blessed with four grandchildren (Chris, Brent, Susan, Sheryl) six great-grandchildren (Jessica, Josh, Cassidy, Mia, Brittney, Mikaila) and 5 ½ great-great-grandchildren (Everett, Christopher, MJ, Braxton, Landry, Briley Lang 1/2). She married Joe in 1939 and moved to Kansas City, later to Grandview, MO, and then to Raymore, MO. She spent her last 3 1/2 years in Hendersonville due to declining health. She was a long time member of Grandview Baptist Church and later a member of Hendersonville Baptist Church.
During the boys earlier years she guided both of them to have a saving grace relationship with Jesus Christ. She was known for her church work, her vegetable gardening, her lemon and chocolate pies, and loved playing cards with precious friends, and was still helping her friend Helen dress and drive her to church at 97!!!!!
She loved to travel to California and Utah to visit family as well as to Hawaii, Alaska, and Australia for fun.
We will celebrate her life on Thursday, December 2 ,2021, at 1:00 P.M. with visitation from 12-1 at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. in Kansas City with Michael Nelson officiating. A graveside service will follow.
