Helen Ann Merrigan, 90, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 22,2023. She was born on August 2, 1932 to the late William and Helen Powers in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School, Bishop Hogan High School and St.Teresa of Avila College.
She was married to Robert (Bob) Francis Merrigan for 53 years before his passing in 2010. Helen worked for and retired from the CSD-1 School District as the District’s business director. Helen had a deep faith and was devoted to her church where she served on numerous volunteer projects and committees over the years. She was especially proud of her family. Helen was a wonderful friend and loved by all that knew her.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-William Powers, and sister-Jean Carroll. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Robert "Craig" and Karen Merrigan of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Patrick and Terri Merrigan of North Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Matthew (Autumn) Merrigan, Megan Merrigan, Haley (Dylan) Merrigan-Garcia, and Kelsey (August Turner) Merrigan; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
A memorial visitation for Helen will be held Friday, March 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Following the mass an inurnment will occur at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bishop Sullivan Center, 6435 E. Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri, or Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church.
