Helen I. Murphy, 88 of Kansas City, Mo died peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Helen was born April 27, 1925 in Wichita, KS to Vito and Concetta (Della Loggia) DiSante. She married Joseph Michael Murphy, who preceded her in death in 2004. Together they were part of the founding membership of St. Vincent de Paul Church. In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Anna. Helen’s survivors include four children, Peter Murphy, MaryAnne Mahurin (Mark), Dan Murphy and Janet Hubbard (Tim); one brother, John DiSante; two sisters, Julia Wagle and Mary Benham; nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
