Henry Andrew Freschett, 80, quietly passed away in the early morning hours of January 22, 2021, from complications related to Alzheimer’s. He joins in everlasting and eternal life his devoted wife of 60 years, Myrtle Freschett, who proceeded him in death by 23 days. Hank’s death freed his mind, body, and soul of the horrible trappings of his disease. His memories of a life well lived, in faith and family, have been restored.
Hank was born on December 15, 1940, in Cavalier, North Dakota, to Robert and Nettie Freschett. Hank and Myrtle were married on September 7, 1960, and together they raised three daughters.
Hank attended the University of North Dakota where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, and he graduated in 1963 with a Business and Public Administration degree. In 1964, Hank was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army. Hank had a very successful career in accounting and financial controlling, first at Thompson Hayward Chemical Co. and later at Harcross Chemical Co. in Kansas City, Kansas. He retired at age 62, allowing for many years of golf and travel with Myrtle, family, and friends by his side.
Hank was a faithful servant and volunteer to the St. Pius X parish in Mission, Kansas where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Hank was a kind and patient man. He mastered solitaire and 4000-piece puzzles in his spare time waiting on his girls.
Hank is survived by his daughters Pattie Freschett (Susie Griffin) Atlanta, GA, Mary Gilman (Frank), Leawood, KS and Susie Ludwikoski (John), Leawood, KS. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Sam, Claire and Jack Gilman and Henry and Luke Ludwikoski. His sister Roberta “Bobbi” Jensen, of Grand Forks, ND and his brother, Jan, of Minneapolis, MN, along with 3 nephews also survive.
He will be remembered and honored with Catholic Funeral Mass on February 4, 2021, at 11:00 at St. Pius X, 5500 Woodson, Mission, KS. A private burial will immediately follow.
