Irene Z Lopez

Irene Z. Lopez, 78 of the Westside of Kansas City, died on December 19, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28 at 1st Baptist Church-Westside, 801 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Kansas City, MO. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 27 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO.

Irene was born on November 9, 1937 in Turner, Kansas to Francisco and Nicolasa (Lopez) Zamarripa. Irene was well known on the Westside, being a board member to Cabot Westside Health Center, Samuel Clinic, Posada del Sol, Guadalupe Senior Club and Don Bosco Center. Irene was a hospitality supervisor with St. Mary’s Hospital. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Genovebo, in 2008 and one brother, Isaiah Zamarripa. Her survivors include 4 stepsons, Lino Lopez, Ted Lopez, Salvador Lopez and Marcos Lopez; 6 stepdaughters, R. Maria Vasquez, Lucy Rivera, Victoria Hernandez, Hope Frisner, Florence Sierra and Maria Villanueva; one brother, Elias Zamarripa, SR; and one sister, Rachel Lopez; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across nation.
