Jack A. Flores (75), February 3, 1947 – March 30, 2022, Lee’s Summit, Missouri – Jack A. Flores of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was gently lifted to Heaven on March 30, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends, finding comfort in knowing that his late wife, Diane would be awaiting their reunion in eternal love. Jack had a strong will to live and be present with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and even through an extended battle with his health he continued to fight through with always a “can do”, positive attitude. Jack met every challenge in stride, and fought until the very end when his body became fatigued, unable to fight any longer. Jack was born on February 3, 1947 to Jack and Aurora (Chavez) Flores. Jack married the love of his life, Patricia (Diane) McClafferty - Flores of Kansas City, Missouri in 1970 and they were married for 31 years. The family finds great comfort that Jack and Diane shared their day of death, March 30, 2022, twenty-one years apart. The coincidence of this date occurring signifies their reunion of pure and devoted love for one another.
Jack was a graduate of Lillis High School, class of 1965. Jack reminisced often about the friendships and experiences he had made while at Lillis. He enjoyed sports, and found himself playing any sport he could, adoring the sport of football and track/field the most, but Jack’s athleticism didn’t discriminate, and Jack excelled in every sport he tried. Jack had an abundance of friends and acquaintances, which included some of the best of lifetime friendships, which many were from his early academic years. Jack then earned a Bachelors degree in Communications from Rockhurst College. He pursued a Masters degree but did not complete, as he went to work, in support of his wife pursuing her nursing career. Jack had intention of returning to his Master’s program but found himself successful in the career of transportation logistics and brokerage. Jack was fruitful in the companies he joined, as to owning his own brokerage firm, all within the Kansas City, Missouri area. He enjoyed the conversations and connection this industry provided, he never knew a stranger and that was admirable. Jack was devoted to being a provider for his family, rarely missing a day of work and ensuring that his children (grands and greats as well) knew the importance of having a good school and work ethic.
When Jack met Diane, she had been recently widowed as her late husband James McClafferty had died in Vietnam. Diane was a packaged deal with her two children, and from that moment those two little kids became his to raise and love as his own. Jack’s selflessness was always admirable and present in every memory that family and friends share of him. Jack was an incredible father that acted selfless to ensure that his wife and children felt supported and secure in all that they did and wanted to become. Jack is survived by his children, Michael (Theresa) McClafferty and Jamie (Randy) Derleth. Jack was a loving and encouraging grandfather to his grandchildren, Miranda (Matt) Tamburello, Cody (Lindsey) McClafferty, Alex (Amanda) McClafferty, Katie (David) Wynn, and Jackson Hocker. Jack was also a very proud and loving great-grandfather to his greats, Jaidyn Tamburello, Stella Tamburello, Lincoln McClafferty, Brooks Tamburello and Bella McClafferty. Jack has the best seat in the house, with the love of his life by his side, at every event or game that his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will be in, and we are confident that he will be encouraging and coaching them all from the Heavens above. Jack also leaves behind his brothers Eddie Flores, Arthur, Fr. Jerome Flores, Mike (Mary) Flores, Joe Flores, and his sisters Mary Flores, and Natalie Flores, Jack was survived by many nephews and nieces, and countless friends and extended family. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Aurora Flores, and his true love, wife Patricia Diane McClafferty-Flores.
Visitation will be held from 10-11am, on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64081 followed by the Mass at 11am.
