James (Jim) was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 16, 1920 to James W. Plunkett, Sr. and Elizabeth Herring Plunkett. He lived in the Kansas City Area his entire life. He graduated from Border Star Elementary School, Southwest High School, and the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was a Sigma Chi and served as chapter treasurer. He was also treasurer
of the Savitor.
Jim served in the United States Army during World War II and then was called back into the Korean War.
He was a member of Colonial Presbyterian Church for 50 years and served as both Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He was employed by Arthur Andersen Company and was asked to come as Treasurer of the Walter W. Ross & Company, where he served for 45 years, finishing his time as one of their Vice Presidents.
He leaves behind his precious wife Claudia, his daughter, Susan Price Plunkett Peterson, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and friend, Thomas Herring Plunkett, and his son Jay Plunkett.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 15th at the Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
The family will receive friends following the service.
