James Sawyer, from Kansas City, Missouri, 63 years old, loving father and brother, passionate artist, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, May 27, 2014. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, KCMO. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, 4420 Warwick Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
James was born January 28, 1951 in Bennington, VT to Francis and Dawn Sawyer. James was a free spirit who loved old vinyl, Kansas City BBQ and visiting art galleries. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Tara's mother, Kelly Pecor. He is survived by his daughter, Tara Sawyer Zahner; brother, Michael Sawyer DDS; sisters, Nancy Sawyer Fox, Mary Ann Sawyer-Schmit, Rosemarie Sawyer, Susan Annett; and one grandson, Andrew James Zahner, on the way.
