

Janell Lee Dermody, 75, passed away Sunday,Dec. 2, 2012 at her home in Kansas City, MO with her husband by her side. She was born on Dec 3, 1936 in Omaha, NE to Woodrow and Ann Fiala. She graduated from Central High School and attended the Univ. of Nebraska College of Education. As a teenager she traveled with the Nat King Cole Trio and Rockettes during summer tours. She was active in Missouri Republican Party Ward 1, USO, Wounded Warriors, Heartland Honor Flight, and any neighborhood organizations that needed her help. As an accomplished sewer and quilter, she made clothing and quilts for her friends and organizations including St. Luke’s Hospital. Janell is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael; daughters, Hollie Roth (Jeff) and Daphney Rossister (David); sons, Sean, Brian, Jason, Darren, Quentin; sisters, Jeannine Byrd and Gail Saffer; brother, Bud Fiala; and many grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Friday, Dec 7, at Holy Rosary Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave KCMO, with interment at 2:30 pm in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 pm (Rosary 7 pm) on Thursday at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd. KCMO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redemptorist Social Services, 207 W.
