June 11, 2019. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on June 18 at Floral Hills Funeral Home,
7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO, with a celebration of life service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will
take place at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit.
Janice was born August 21, 1936, daughter of Willis and Winnie Frazee. She married Harold
“Pete” Shane on August 18, 1956. They had four children; Harold Shane, Jr., Sandy (Fred)
Mills, Tammy (Doug) Wyckoff, and Mike (Melissa) Ash. She is preceded in death by her son,
Harold (1986). Janice has 7 grandchildren; Wendie (Travis) Dickerson, Jason Shane, Tiffany
(Chris) Nay, Shane Wyckoff, Shawn Wyckoff, Nicole Ash, and Emily Ash. She has 12
great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia. Her younger brother, Bill
Frazee, resides in California with his wife, children & grandchildren.
Janice graduated from Southeast High School in 1954. She enjoyed attending class reunions
and keeping up with classmates over the years. She often spoke of her time in high school and
memories she shared with friends.
Janice’s favorite past times included reading, lunch with friends, playing video poker at the
casino, traveling, spending time with family and friends, as well as her four-legged son, Hope..
Yes, she named him Hope. While growing up, her children’s friends always enjoyed being at
their house and spending time with the family. Most of all, Janice enjoyed being a wife, mother
and grandmother and was proud of her family.
Janice worked in a variety of positions over the years at the Kansas City & Raytown Police
Departments, as well as the Kansas City Fire Department. She was also a Medical Assistant,
worked at the Silent Unity Prayer Room, and was a business owner. She and Pete owned the
Lee’s Summit Party Shop for 25 years, retiring in 2001.
