I met JP randomly one night while I was in the Army as a military police officer on pass in Kansas City. We had a three day weekend and decided to get a hotel with some of the other lieutenants. Our first night there we ran into him making small talk and when he found out we were in the army he took care of our tab and also drove us around the city showing us around on his dime. He was a very kind and caring person who appreciated taking care of service members. Weird that I had a flashback of that night and googled his name to find this. RIP to the kind gentleman who took us out on the town for a good night in KC

As we played block party all night and empathized over Max's losses we loved jay he was like a brother to us amen.

Jim and I were so very sad to here about Jay. I can still see him coaching the boys basketball game looking as if he just wanted to jump in there himself. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and all the family

There are no words to express my sorrow when I heard Jay had passed away. The heartache your family is facing is something that breaks my heart. Dear Pat, Lisa and family,

We are so sorry to learn of Jay's passing.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Jay was a good friend to me and my family he spent many nights at my families home with me. We laughed and talked all night long sharing or deepest thoughts and dreams of what would become. Jay was a inspiration to me, he was a kind and loving man.  I will miss my friend, When  I'm down and blue I’ll remember the last words he spoke to me, ” I want you to be happy. I love you Jenn and always have follow your dreams.” RIP my mentor, friend and Love. 

Lisa, Pat and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Jay's premature death.  My memories of him are limited to the time he was an infant but my memories of you, Lisa especially, continue to recent times and are always so warm.  I am very sorry for your pain and his family's loss.  I regret that a conflict will not allow me to be present for his funeral but you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart breaks for the McNamara family, but I know  your memories and love will keep Jay in your hearts.  You will find strength in one another - you are such a strong family.  I have so enjoyed seeing Jay’s and his siblings’ involvement at O’Hara and their activities afterwards through Lisa’s stories.  I have many memories of Jay, his smile, and always respectful greeting.  One assignment I always have remembered is his “stream of conscious” writing from junior English.  Jay wrote about the thoughts of a basketball player while on the free throw line in a close game.  It was easy to feel his love for the game as I read that piece.  RIP, Jay.  We will miss you.

Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this very sad time, we will always remember watching him grow up on Booth. 
 

Jamie and the rest of the McNamara family, I am so sorry and sad for your loss. I have thought and thought about how to describe Jay. And I can’t seem to form the right words to describe him and his character.
Except he had a soul that was easy going and kind, a soul that was open to anyone that needed a smile or laugh, a soul that would of made the world smile and laugh if he could of. His laugh will be missed. He had the best laugh. And laughing because he made you laugh will be missed. Jay, you will be and are missed. May you be in heaven making someone laugh. You are surely missed here.

I echo Kathy's sentiments, except it was American Government and it wasn't last period, but rather mods 10-11, if I remember correctly.  I could never tell Jamie and Jay apart and if I recall one of them liked my course and one did not so much.  Whichever one liked the course would go twice, affording his brother a chance to miss it.  

 As long as I was associated with O'Hara, or so it seemed, there was a McNamara in class or the office.  I am so saddened by your loss.  I know he was deeply and truly loved by many and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Senior English, Room 104, last period of the day. Then as now, I am at a loss for words. Having a McNamara connection for all these years and attending so many family celebrations has been a blessing. Jay brought light and laughter to those gatherings. May he Rest In Peace, light and laughter.
