Jerry Rogers Johanning, 64, passed away May 23, 2016. He was born on June 25, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Henry Louis "Joe" and Billee Rogers Johanning, of Fairway, KS. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and attended Johnson County Community College and Kansas University.
Jerry passed away following lengthy illness. Jerry was a lover ... of people, children, animals, and is remembered by family and friends as an especially selfless, sweet and caring individual. Those he professionally counseled benefited from his compassionate care and guidance, often seeking him out in their later life to express gratitude and share their stories of recovery and success. Jerry expressed his many talents through artistic creation of jewelry and inlaid woodworking. Jerry enjoyed photography and gardening and had a special gift for growing roses. Jerry's love of the ocean and fishing lake and sea stemmed from childhood adventures to Florida, Lake of the Ozarks and "the pits" in Kansas. Jerry had been an accomplished double-trap-set drummer; his love of music was greatly influenced by the Beatles. Jerry met the love of life, Michelle, through their shared occupation of drug/alcohol counseling and they were joined in sixteen years of marriage. Jerry's efforts made this world a better place and his loving influence and sensitive counsel are a treasure to family, friends and clients.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather John Charles Fasnacht. He is survived by his wife Michelle Becker Johanning; step-sister's Margie Johanning Keaton (Bob) and Linda Fasnacht Dieter (Dan), and nephew Charlie Dieter.
