
Jerry Ray Simer, age 82, of Independence Missouri, passed away on December 24, 2025 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. 64133. Visitation will be January 12th from 4pm-8pm, Graveside service will be January 13th at 11am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions towards funeral services. Please inquire with the funeral home.
Jerry was born May 6th, 1943 to Marvin and Audrey Simer, in Irvington Il. He worked from a very young age and played basketball as a youth. He then joined the Navy where became QM3, navigating the ship known as the USS Radford. After leaving the military he moved the family to Kansas City, Missouri where he was the manager of 7-11. He managed multiple businesses around the Kansas City area including Ben Franklin stores before starting a career with Uhaul Company. He worked for Uhaul until his retirement and enjoyed watching Storage Wars and game shows. His favorite music was the Eagles and CCR, and his favorite place to go was Sam’s Club and Walmart.
He was preceded in death by multiple siblings and was the youngest of the Simer group, granddaughter Tara Simer, great-grandson Azarah Silvine Hopson “Ash”.
Survivors include Brian & Wendy Simer, Cameron & Heather Simer, granddaughter Tia Roszell (Devon Roszell), granddaughter Talynn Tann (Andrew Tann), grandson Trenten Simer (Jennifer Simer), granddaughter Mary Simer, great-grandson Titus Tann.
