Jim was devoted to his family first and foremost. He was known for his love of sports, and the outdoors. Jim was an avid sports fan, both playing and watching, but given the choice between watching his sons play or the Chiefs and Royals, no question, always his boys. Watching them play sports and being outdoors with them was his true love, and sitting around the family fire pit was a favorite spot. Jim loved traveling, sports and the beach, but none of those things were meaningful alone, he loved them because he was with his family. Jim never met a stranger and if you were lucky enough to be his friend you were a friend for life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Courtney Scannell Roy, and two sons, Fisher Rexell Roy and Finnegan William Roy, his mother, Patty Marak, his father, Bill Roy, sisters, Debbie Roy and Jennifer Patterson and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, on Wednesday, July 12 at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64112.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in honor of Jim Roy to Rockhurst High School.
