

The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on March 1, 2024 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Children's Mercy Hospital.
Joan was born in Kansas City, MO on March 27, 1936 at St. Joseph Hospital to Rose and Clifford Snyder. She graduated from Lillis High School in 1953. First job out of high school, she went to work at Hallmark for two years. She then started working at AT&T. Her fiancé returned from the Army and they were married a few months later at Blessed Sacrament Parish. She remained at AT&T until she was 5 months pregnant and their company rules required she start maternity leave.
On March 5th, she had a son they named Richard and stayed home because she became pregnant again when Richard was 6 months old. Then on June 10th, was blessed with a baby girl they named Ann Louise. Fifteen months later, they had another baby girl named Carolyn Marie. Three years later another baby son was born and they named him David.
When the three older children were in school and David was in preschool, Joan went to work at the IRS, working part time during tax season. Later Joan worked full time at the Department of Agriculture and stayed until she retired at age 67. When Joan retired she moved from the house in St. Regis Parish to a patio apartment at Heritage Park in Lee's Summit, MO across the street from her parish, Our Lady of the Presentation. She said, "I am very happy here."
Joan was preceded in death by her son David Staab, parents Clifford H. and Rose C. (Welsh) Synder and brother Don Synder.
She is survived by her son Richard Staab (wife Maureen); daughters Ann Richardson (husband Lonnie), Carolyn Raye (husband Stephen), sister-in-law Kay Synder; eight grandchildren David, Chad, Christina, Jennifer, Kevin and Bradley; and six great grandchildren Kadin, Jay, Lexie, Emily, Joselyn, and Freya.
Her spirit lives on in heaven and her memory resides forever in our hearts.
