

In 1946, Joanne earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design in Lawrence, Kansas at the University of Kansas. In 1943, she joined Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduating in 1947, she became a member of the faculty at K.U. and taught design and nature drawing.
On July 3, 1948. She married Bill T. Wall in Kansas City, Missouri. Joanne raised three children while continuing her art career – which included post graduate studies at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1969 and was awarded a lifetime teaching certificate to teach art in secondary schools in Missouri Secondary Schools. She was a painter, bookbinder, lithographer, printmaker, and established the Blue River Press in 1980. Her favorite medium was watercolor. She loved teaching and sharing art with anyone who wanted to learn and inspired so many.
She is survived by her three children, Ann Johnson, Brian (Debbi) Wall, and Martha (Richard) Gannon. Additionally, she leaves 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
