A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, at the Casa Grande, 700 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri. John was born on August 22, 1948, the eldest of John and Josephine (Lopez) Garcia, Sr. Jr., (as family and friends called him) had a special personality that endeared him to family and the many friends he would make throughout his years. From excelling in football as an excellent guard for Rockhurst and Westport High, to being an entrepreneur in the restaurant and nightclub business, Jr. always gave everything a 110 percent of his efforts. John outlasting doctor's projections was a testimony to his toughness in very trying situations as everyone familiar with him remembers.
Jr. Garcia was preceded in death by his loving parents, two nephews, Tony and John, and his uncle, Ramon, who became a father figure to him after his parent's death. He is survived by his beloved aunt, Mary; step-son, Carl Simone of North Carolina; twin brothers, Joseph (Yvonne) of San Antonio, TX and Jess of Chicago, IL; sisters, Antoinette Hernandez (Larry) of KCMO, and Lupe Rennau (Robert) of KCMO; double cousins, Anna Marie Ascencio (Gilbert) and Abigail Salazar (Arthur); nephews, Larry, Daniel, John, Joseph, Salvador, and Michael (a special thanks from his baby sister for helping raise her sons); niece, Mary Jo; 13 great-nieces and nephews, many loving family members and a special thanks to his lifelong friends, Joe, Mick, Jed, Coulter, and the Mikes.
For Jr. Garcia, living life to the "fullest" was a way-of-life he sincerely embraced! He will be greatly and respectfully missed. Rest in peace dear friend!
Arrangements under the direction of McGilley Midtown Chapel, Kansas City, MO.
