

John H. Johnson, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2012, at the Villages of Jackson Creek Nursing Home following a long term illness. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. John was the oldest of four children born to John H. Johnson, Sr. and Irenia Crowell, of Altheimer, Arkansas. John completed his formal education in Arkansas and after joined the United States Army, where he served during World War II. John met and married Hilda S. Johnson, on August 1, 1944 and from this union one child was born, Carol Marie Johnson-Latham on November 18, 1946. John and Hilda moved to Kansas City in 1949. They later moved Hilda’s sister Elizabeth to Kansas City to finish raising her. John held several positions, in which his last was with Marlen Research Corporation as a Research & Development Assembly Manager, before retirement. John enjoyed a wide range of hobbies to include making furniture, photography, traveling and spending time with those he loved most, mainly all of his nieces and nephews. He was an excellent craftsman and could repair anything. John was preceded in death by his wife Hilda, his parents, his daughter Carol, and two younger brothers, Eddie Johnson and Duggar Johnson. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, RK Johnson of Independence, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jordan, of Kansas City, Missouri; one granddaughter, Michelle Latham and one great-granddaughter, Raven Carter of Alexandria, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Keven A. Jordan (Myia, and children Rickie and Jiamiah) of Kansas City, Missouri, Bryan Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri, Marsha Jordan-Brown (Warren Kevin), of Blue Springs, Missouri, Shanita Isaac (Kenneth) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Edna Newman of Kansas City, Kansas, Mona Hicks of Kansas City, Missouri, Irena Lloyd (James) of Independence, Missouri, Donald Ray Johnson (Cynthia) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Valorie Johnson-Pruitt of Little Rock, Arkansas, Deborah Mothershed, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and one very special great-niece, Kayla Elizabeth Brown of Blue Springs, Missouri, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
