John R. Raper Sr.

John R. Raper, Sr., 73, was born on February 17, 1936 in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of the late John A. Raper and Blanch (Harris) Adams. He passed away on February 2, 2010 at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. John lived most of his life in Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Juanita Raper of KCMO; four children, Rebecca Alvarez and husband John of KCMO, Cherryl Raper of KCMO, John R. Raper, Jr. and wife Carla of Independence, MO and Chris Raper and wife Angie of Independence, MO; 8 grandchildren, Joshua Raper of KCMO, Felicia Rector of North KCMO, Robert, Ryan and Tyler Milliren of Independence, MO, Christina, Brandon and Jessica Raper of Independence, MO; 4 great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Jakob Rector, James and Ava Raper. John was employed for 20 years by General Electric as a service technician. Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd. KCMO. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Saturday, February 6 in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
