Sports ruled Joe’s life; he loved Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, MU, Benedictine and Bishop Lillis sports teams. He was active in fast pitch softball leagues throughout Kansas City. He gave this enthusiasm to his children, including time at baseball fields in their education and spent every summer for 40 years at the Lake of the Ozarks surrounded by family. His family was most important as he was the anchor for all his family. Joe was never a stranger to anyone.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Joseph Fowler; brothers, James and Bill; sisters, Mary and Agnes; and nephew, Nick. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vi Fowler; children, Mary Kay Fowler, Sharon Fowler, Rose Marie Fowler-Swarts and husband Steve Swarts, Don Fowler and wife Theresa, Brian Fowler and wife Janet; grandchildren, Stephen and wife Brittany, Matt and wife Sally, Mike and wife Charlia, Ryan, Lora, Leah, Katie, Mark and Brad; great-grandchildren, Faith, Mason and Adalyn and many loving nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
He kept the faith, fought the good fight and finished the race. Do not go softly into that good night.
