Dearest Chris, I knew your mother when I was in grade school! She met my parents at the Playmore skating rink in KC. We were not in touch again until you were a youngster!! That's when I met your father! I came to your house to be with your grandmother and the beautiful white German Shepard !! I was remembering bits and pieces of my past when you and your parents and grandmother(she gave me a pillow cover she made the last time I saw her) came to my mind! I loved your mom very much!! She wrote to me about you being a policemen and about your marriage!! I only wish I had known your father better!! I pray you and your family are well and blessed!!

Chris  and loved ones.  I have such fond memories of your Dad, Grandpa, beginning in 1946 when were in Freshman 103 classes together.  We used to ride the Streetcar going through the West Bottoms, bus to 15th street and thence to the hallowed halls of 
D.L.S.  Your Dad had such a great sense of humor.  We used to have a retreat once a year at D.L.S., and one year Joe was passing out mass missals, with this intonement.  Programs, programs, get your programs here, cant tell an altar boy from the priest without your progams...Brother Jude about 5 foot nothing was coming right behind me, and gave Joe a Christian Brother greeting to the left cheek.  We got together to go on our "Spring Break," which was for we in Wyandotte County a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks, went skiny dipping on Easter Sunday off Lake Road 32.  Yes he was one of the best, and that is why I chose him to be my Best Man at my wedding.  I was going to ask him to ride along to the D.L.S. reunion this year, Our 65th, but that will have to wait.  God bless you in your time of grieving, but just wanted to share of few of the oldies, but goodies with you and your loved ones.  Sid Messer, a friend, fellow classmate, and saddened by our loss.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Kostelac.  Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.

Joe was a good friend and neighbor for almost 40 years. He will be deeply missed by our family. Our condolences and best wishes go out to his family.
